NEO-RECOVERY: SOJIRO

2018-2019. After sharing on Tumblr & adapting for Instagram, the original Recovery Archive has transformed. I have since revisited & corrupted the initial slides, plus supplementary text from my various blogs.

I’ve always been taken with glitch art, digital noise, & the overall “corruption” of imagery — both as an aesthetic & a state of being. The following “chapter” of the neo//RECOVERY Archive is inspired by the classic series Rurouni Kenshin, in particular the 90s anime adaptation. It was a fundamental show to my childhood, & also featured an abused (& I suspect Borderline) character Sojiro Seta / 瀬田 宗次郎

The language follows an ongoing stream of consciousness I shared on my blog, starting from Summer of 2018. I reference the same figure I fixated on to a toxic degree in my Emotional Language series. The first entries were written in the early morning, delirious with a Summer illness, & sickened with my past toxic obsession. I dare to even call it an addiction.
